To begin the process, click the “+” symbol next to “Earnest Money.” There are five icons on the bottom that will navigate you through the EMD process. Move through the fields with the “Next “button on the keyboard.

  • Property Icon: The address of the property involved and where the funds will go
  • Actors Icon: The names of the agents, buyer and sellers involved
  • Transaction Icon: Your role in the transaction and closing details
  • Front Icon: Submit the front of the check
  • Back Icon: Submit the back of the check

First, enter in the property address in “Property” and select who the funds will go to. Enter in the full address including city, state, and zip code. If address has not been identified, you can input your personal address. Please review what was entered for accuracy before moving forward.

Next, click the “Actors” icon to type in the listing agent, selling agent, buyers, and sellers’ names.

On the “Transaction” screen, select your role. You are either the “Buyer,” “Seller, “Listing Agent,” or “Selling Agent.” Enter the “Closing Date” and “Binding Date” in the next two spaces. The binding date is the date all parties signed the agreement. If you do not have any dates, input the date you are depositing the check. Then, enter the “Check Amount to Broker.” Do not enter the $ symbol, just enter numbers with no commas. For example, $5,000.00 would be entered as 5000.00. The agent can put any special instructions in the last space.

Next, click the “Front” icon. In this section, you will take a picture of the front of the check you are submitting.

Lay the check horizontally on a flat surface with a plain background. Click “Capture Front,” and give your Settings permission to access the Camera. The app will take the photo of the picture when it deems the image acceptable, just center the check on the screen and have the check fill the area completely or as close to it as possible. If you are not close enough or the image is not within the outlined area, you will see a pop-up message appear. Once the image is correctly centered and close enough, the app will automatically snap the picture and save it. You can take the picture again, if needed.

Next, click the “Back” icon. In this section, you will take a picture of the back of the check you are submitting.

Lay check horizontally on a flat surface with a plain background. Click “Capture Back.” The app will take the photo of the picture when it deems the image acceptable, just center the check on the screen and have the check fill the area completely or as close to it as possible. Once the image is correctly centered and close enough, the app will automatically snap the picture and save it. You can take the picture again, if needed.

Review your information by clicking each navigation icon. If you are ready to submit your information and check, press “Submit Item.” A small screen will pop-up confirming the amount of the check. Select “Yes” if correct. If not, go back and correct the amount.
